I was so ecstatic when I found out that teen vogue and chictopia were teaming up for a contest! Two of my favorite things! And although I am fairly new to the chictopian world I figured I would give it a try. So during these hard economic times I love love love to remix my favorite wardrobe staples, including this dark green dress that is by Twelve by Twelve from Forever21. I decided I would show how to remix this dress throughout the seasons. Therefore you are getting the most use out of it. I mean who doesn’t love the ability to wear one item throughout the whole year? So, I managed to create -3 different looks, for all the different season! I feel each one has a different personality that comes with it.
My Tips
Look 1:
I feel this is best suited for the winter, and its very much a gret cocktail look. So because I live in Buffalo and it is freezing here during the winter months I paired it with my favorite black blazer, which is definitely one of my wardrobe staples. I added the most delightful pair of argyle tights and black booties. Also to give my body a little more shape I added a black belt, and in my hair I added a black flower clip (that can also serve as a pin). So by adding simple pieces I gave this once basic dress a little twist to make it work for a special occasion.
Look 2:
So for the second look I decided to do a fall inspired piece. So I took the dress and I pinned the ends to make it a peasant shirt. The bottom of the dress is a bubble so it was really easy to accomplish. I also used the tie that goes in the front and wrapped it around so that it was in the back. Then I added one of my favorite pairs of jeans. I also used a pashmina to mix in some more colors. And then I paired it with one of my new favorite pairs of shoes, my tan oxfords. I feel they give the outfit a very schoolgirl feel. Furthermore in my hair I added a pink flower headband to tie into the scarf. I think this look would be stellar for school, I’m in college right now, and this would be such an easy outfit to throw on.
Look 3:
So for the last look I decided to leave the dress by itself. I wanted to show of the great details on the front of the dress. It has these frilly pieces with a braided tie that makes it so unique. So to keep it simple I just added a wrap headband that has tons of dark colors in it. Then for my shoes I paired this dress with my newest wardrobe staple, my black clogs. They are so easy to throw on and despite there 3.5” height, they are such a breeze to walk in! This look would be great for either spring or summer! It would be great to wear on a lunch date with friends!
So as you can see it is really easy to transform one dress into three great outfits! Its so simple to dress it up or down, and even make it into a pretty shirt to pair with jeans! All you need to do is change up the accesories or the colors and you can create so many different looks using one piece!
Oh and a special thanks to my friend brittany.she took these photos.Isn’t she great?Yeah I think so too.
