First off, allow me to thank everyone for the sweetest messages/comments about my being part of the roster for July’s Style Icon. You guys are the sweetest! I love blogging my outfits and seeing and commenting on everyone else’s posts that I have been loyal to Chictopia for almost the longest time. Personally, this community is one of the best and most convenient ways to connect to people and get inspired by fashion from all parts of the world. I posted my looks and shared them to everyone else for one reason, and that would be my passion for fashion and dressing up. Winning/ attaining the title was never really the driving force for my posts or outfit choices but now that I was blessed with the honor and prestige of such (thanks to everyone who made that possible, really, I am touched and filled with gratitude), being style icon is definitely an added bonus that has got me doing cartwheels with joy, metaphorically. I am so honored to be part of it with 5 fabulous and fashion savvy chictopians I look up to and adore! Congratulations to those 5 amazing girls as well as they really deserve the win!
Anyway, this was my outfit as I braved the End of Summer Season Sale blowout back here in Manila where I had 3 very important battles: against my budget (which I tried and failed to stick to…what’s new?), against frenzied fashionphiles such as myself in a major sale trance and against my willpower which attempted to control my need to buy. Virtually every much-loved and esteemed brand was on sale this weekend… Topshop, Mango, Zara to name a few, and I decided to burn a hole in my wallet in this battle ready outfit, a take on the military trend. Back here, the first day of SALE SEASON is a battlefield, literally, thus the soldier inspired outfit. It’s a jungle really and only the fittest survive. This of course involves working your way in the rack with about 100 other women on the prowl for the ultimate bargain. The queues are craaaazy too as there is a line to everything… getting into the store, into the fitting room and to pay for purchases which takes about a good 30-45 minutes to accomplish. I am not complaining about it at all since I love it…the sight of women adrenaline rushing is just too precious to whine about especially if you are one of said women discovering a gorgeous dress you’ve pined for almost a month already…at 70% off…in your size.
In a nutshell, I wore a loose army green button down from Zara over a black mesh tanktop and a leather studded skirt. The easy to remove button down and all black attire made it optimal when I attempted to use the store’s mirror as my make shift dressing room (I put the clothes over the tank and skirt) as the line to fit clothes was way too long. Added my new funky Topshop stockings which I love since they edged out the look and piled on the bling- chains, pearls, rhinestones and studs to complete the look. Picked my fringed bag which was easy to lug around and new mesh booties which just arrived in the mail and headed out. I love how perfectly the mesh booties tied the look together as it matched my accessories and mesh top to the tee!
Anyway, it was a tiring day and I bet everyone needs time to have their feet and wallets recover first after the crazy weekend that was! Isn’t SALE season just the best?
Wishing you all a greaaat weekend ahead! Happy 4th of July guys! xx
