So origionally, this post was just a brief ramble about the weather, etc, but I’ve been meaning to write a public note of apology for a long time, and figured now was a good time to do it.
As some of you who have been on chictopia a long time may know, during the winter of 2008 and the spring of 2009 I was fervently rooting to be a chictopia Style Icon. Now, there’s nothing wrong with wanting to be a Style Icon, and posting on your chicblog entries for people to add you, but I went the extreme and unethical route by sending messages to my chictopia friends and random users, asking them to add me to their favorites, in order that I might become a Style Icon. What I did was against chictopia ettique, not to mention stupid.
If I really wanted to be a Style Icon, shouldn’t I be one because people took it on their own to add me as a favorite, not because I asked them? Being a Style Icon shouldn’t be like a competitive political campaign. If you really have the unqiue and personal style that a Style Icon possesses, chictopians will naturally add you as a favorite. Even if I had become a Style Icon, I would have always known, in the back of my mind, that I wasn’t where I was because people wanted me to be a Style Icon; I would have been a Style Icon because of my own pushiness and determination.
More importantly, what I did violated chictopia’s community rules. Chictopia is all about a fun and relaxed fashion atmosphere. Bugging you to add me as a favorite must have been so annoying to both chictopia users and chictopia’s editors. I truly apologize for the annoyance and tension I caused, and, Style Icon or not, am grateful to be a part of this wonderful and blossoming fashion community.
