Finally: prom! And more importantly: my prom dress! Which I ended up making myself…up to the very last minute, in fact. If any readers remember my junior semi dress, I hemmed that dress the afternoon right before the dance with a few hours to spare. This year, I went an hour or two over budget, and if I re-type that whole story again, it’ll make me too stressed out and exhausted. Basically, I got there on time with an inadvertently short hem and a really shabbily sewn zipper…but I pulled a Joy Behar, said “So what, who cares?” and had a damn good time.
*Note- if you haven’t seen that SNL skit…get out of here and find it.
On my left in this photo is my awesome friend Sarah, who made a guest appearance on the blog here, and who came to prom after flying back from a semester in China the night before. What a trooper. I normally don’t like posting photos of other people here (especially because I didn’t ask permission first…oops), but you know what? It’s a pretty kick-ass photo, so I think it’ll be OK.
The last 2 photos were taken after I re-sewed the dress to make the skirt longer and the zipper less sloppy, and submitted it to Jo-Ann Fabrics’ prom contest…again, with only an hour to spare before the midnight deadline. Clearly, I need to get better at managing my time.
