As you may know, I’m a huge fan of the “less is more” approach. Layering tops and piling on accessories just isn’t my style, though I certainly admire those who do it well. Summer is the time of year when it’s perfectly acceptable to dress simply, because of the weather or the fact that summer tends to be more laid back. Sometimes having nothing to do during summer makes me lose motivation – I’m out of school, I have no job, and in some instances, no where to go. But what’s wrong with wanting to look nice?
I had a completely different outfit on earlier today, but it was a little too much for me. The weather here is delightfully mild, but wearing a cardigan over a top with a ton of bracelets didn’t feel right. So, in the midst of possibly making plans, I changed into this little dress paired with my favorite sandals that I seem to have been neglecting lately. Dressing simply isn’t always synonymous with dressing in a way that’s boring. Whether it’s simply too hot to wear anything but a flowy dress or if you don’t feel like wearing anything complex, there’s always a way to make simplicity work.
Here’s some tips for dressing simply and staying stylish.
1. Use patterns to add excitement to your look, like Chictopian vainillaBEAn.
2. Take a cue from colormenana and show a little skin.
3. Take the approach of ivywang and wear multiple leopard print accessories.
4. Pair a body-con skirt with a looser top like meijia for a cool silhouette.
