Ok, so when I think of the beach, I think of my last trip to Miami… aka shirtless men, bikinis, and ugly halter tops. Nasty!
This is a generalization I’ve had difficulty breaking. Mostly, because I don’t “do” beaches either. As you can see, at first I had on opaque stockings and combat boots. Hardly, the appropriate thing for playing in sand. AND, I’m on my Sidekick. How GROSS of me.
However, I firmly believe that dressing with inherent built in options is better than dressing soley for the beach. For example:
Light layering – cardigans, loose t’s, fluid short dresses allow you to switch it up depending on the weather. Beach weather can be unpredictable (see wind), so allow for the different changes in temperature but bringing along a few extras. Even stockings!
Accessories – sunglasses, jewelry can take you from day to night. If you have somewhere to go afterwards, adding bangles and layered necklaces instantly turn your beach outfit into a casual night outfit.
Big bag – to fit all your essentials, and to store all the above. A nice looking big bag versus a beach tote might be even better if, again, you need to go from beach to night.
Can you tell I never have time to change?
