It’s finally summer, and the weather is so perfect that you don’t have to worry about wearing a cardigan. This means it’s time to show off all your delicate dresses that would be ruined under heavy jackets or cardigans. Maxi dresses, I’m looking at you! They’re easier to pull of than you might think, even if you are only 5’4" like me.
To accent maxi dresses like mine, that are already a statement on their own, keep it simple. Think of the mood you want to portray, and stick to it. When I first bought this dress, I envisioned a world like The Princess Diaries, fully equipped with garden parties, royalty, and romantic dresses. That’s why I paired it with a tiny white rose hair clip from J Crew and sandals. This dress screams to me of running barefoot in the lawn, but alas, this is the real world and not a Disney movie. No shoes, no service.
For an edgier look, try a punked out studded belt with sky-high black wedges. Sweet and tough acessories might seem like mixing oil and vinegar, but so is the delicious salad dressing my mother makes!
If your dress has a more Bohemian look, try pairing it with a slouchy bag and chunky bangles.
