I live in a perpetual city of drizzle. I have learned the hard way that flats are not conducive to rainy cities. Your feet will get wet. You will have to go to work. You will fill your wet shoes with paper towel and live with damp for the next eight hours. You will not be a happy girl. Kitten heels are ideal for city-wide tromps. Higher heels or wedges are excellent for jaunts. Some would argue that boots are the answer, and ankle booties will do the trick. Some of us don’t like to wear knee-high boots, however, because we feel they make us look short and we don’t like that.
Hats will be your white knight against “rain frizz.” You don’t want to show at your destination looking like you rode on the outside of the bus. For windy/rainy days I bobby-pin a beret to my hair so it doesn’t fly away. I have a chronic fear of a favourite hat blowing over the edge of a bridge and being lost forever in a river/ocean/awful gutter place.
