Last summer I did a program called NYLF during which I stayed at Babson College for ten days and one of the many incredible people I met there was named Justice. Justice taught me two things: 1) how to walk it out and 2) how to use the phrase “geekin.” Justice explained to me and our bud Tyler that geekin’ is defined as follows.
geekin’: [geek-in] vt. 1. One is said to be “geekin” when one is laughing really hard at something funny (for example, a joke) and one’s face becomes grotesquely contorted (that is, your nose wrinkles up) and one may also simultaneously engage in loud guffaws and/or snorts. 2. May also refer to getting ready to jerk (as in, “hey brody all this jerkins got me geeked up”).
Therefore, geekin’ is completely innapropriate in this context of a fashion blog because 1) no one is laughing and 2) no one is dancing. HOWEVER there is a connection that makes it almost relevant. Here is the logical sylligism: geekin’ —> geeks —> GEEK CHIC! And thus it is totally pertinent to a fashion blog, specifically THIS fashion blog, and not just because I felt like sharing, but because I am actually rocking (or attempting to rock) geek chic in these photos.
My version of geek chic includes my oversized Cudi shades, a painfully pink floral cardigan, and—the piece de resistance—SOCKS AND SANDALS.
