The annual Academy of Art Graduate Fashion Show took place last night here in San Francisco. Models draped in structural pieces strutted down the illuminated runway for seventeen different collections. Graduates presented looks inspired by surrealism, vintage shirts, antique lace and even hallucinations. All in the audience, including proud family members and fashion execs, were blown away by the artistic vision encapsulated in the collections of these young designers. As one commenter noted to the graduates, “We can’t wait to see what you do in the real world.”
At the end of the show, members of the fashion industry awarded a few lucky graduates with internships at top brands including Patrik Ervell and Abecrombie & Fitch. Two incredibly lucky graduates were presented with full-time positions. The audience, conspicuously aware of how tough finding a job post-graduation can be, roared with applause at the announcement.
The 2010 Graduate Fashion Show was certainly an event not to be missed and we can’t wait to see what next year’s graduates will present. They’ve certainly got a lot to live up to!
