A lot of people think the wearing of maxi dresses is restricted to formal occasions and that they are too ‘grown-up’ for teenagers. However, I find that maxi dresses are actually quite youthful and are extremely versatile. Depending on the fabric and cut of the dress and the accessories you choose to pair it with, your overall look can be suited for day or night.

It’s best to choose a maxi dress that’s made out of a casual fabric (say jersey) for the day to keep it from looking too dressy. Also avoid a strapless maxi dress for the day.
For a more formal, evening event, I would suggest a darker colored maxi dress, but you could always dress up a more colorful dress.
