I know it’s way too late in the season to be posting about earmuffs but the weather has been so gray and dreary lately I’m going to ask that you guys bear with me and make an exception. When I walked into work this morning sporting a pair of cheetah print earmuffs Helen stopped and asked me if they were headphones. “I wish I had furry headphones!” These earmuffs that I bought at Bancroft Clothing Co. in Berkeley for NYFW was the best $5 I ever spent. In the Bay Area cold weather is usually accompanied by a healthy breeze and ear muffs along with scarves can make a big difference. There are tons options to choose from and it really comes down to whatever strikes your fancy!
The brand label earmuff
Whenever I think of earmuffs the first image I see in my head are those Burberry earmuffs Charlotte was wearing on an episode of Sex and the City. I remember thinking “She WOULD wear Burberry earmuffs” and ever since I’ve had a strange desire to run around Central Park in a track suit and Burberry earmuffs, I dunno.
The bandless ear muff
These babies are as compact as you can get. Two individual “muffs” go directly over your ears and are held in place by an elastic band. I’m not sure how well they stay in place but it’s definitely a unique look and will probably garner a lot of curious stares. Ear muffs of the future as I like to call them.
The Chewbacca ear muff
These are the ear muffs I just don’t get. They scare me. Why would you want big hairy things sprouting out of your ears?
The earmuff headphones
They actually exist! In case you couldn’t possibly get from point A to point B without music OR cold ears. It sounds like I’m being sarcastic but I actually do wear my headphones under my earmuffs most of the time because I am one of “those” people who are completely dependent on their ipods.
