The south may be full of country towns with one traffic light, but we also have metro areas. If you are ever in the “Gate City”, you should definitely peruse our local shops. I don’t have much to spend, so you will not see expensive boutiques on this list. But, you will find one of a kind style!
Carolina Thrift: The best thrift store in Greensboro, NC. Period. Carolina Thrift always seems to have that one item that I can’t find anywhere else, and usually for under $5. Each item is tagged with a certain color tag. Then, on certain days, each color has an additional discount taken off at the register! What’s better, you can also find household items and other neat stuff.
Sisters Boutique: Is located in the college area of Greensboro. It is on one of the most stylish, bustling streets in town. At Sisters I have found some of the most unique jewelry, accessories, and clothes that I own. They have a wide price range and selection, and their staff is super friendly.
Highway 29 Flea Market: This is a relatively small place as far as flea markets are concerned (in NC at least), but they consistently deliver on unique vintage pieces. My recent purchases include wool skirts that fits like gloves, and some great jewels. I bought the skirt I’m wearing at the flea!
Goodwill: Greensboro has several Goodwills. One of the great things about this is that each store has a completely different style associated with it. On one side of town I found every color blouse I needed to create a new blouse for myself. At another store they don’t have one of every color, but they have one of that unique color you haven’t seen anywhere else.
Design Archives: A little treasure chest on the same street as Sister’s. This place has the best vintage in Greensboro. I recently found the blue velvet dress I had been coveting right inside their front doors. I could spent hours just hunting through the vintage slips, jewelry, and lounging on their purple fainting couch. Plus, they have discounts for students!
I hope you enjoyed perusing my town haunts. If you get the chance stop in downtown and try Zen Sushi. I think I stalk food providers just as much, if not more, than style providers.
