Besides being an intern for Chictopia, I also have a part time job as a waitress at a local Sushi Bar. How do you think I bought all those shoes? Tip money, duh! :)
This picture was taken by Lulu when she came to visit me. Her salon/prostitution house is right next door.
I’m lucky enough that where I work doesn’t really have a dress code so I pretty much wear whatever I want. If you’re not as lucky, I have a few tips on ways for dressing up and looking your best while working at even the strictest places.
Since I was 15, I have been working at restaurants. It’s the easiest at making some good money fast. Most of the places I’ve worked always have the same boring uniform guidelines: black pants, white tee and comfy shoes. What I like to do is push those boundaries as far as I can.
Accessorize! Cute, minimal jewelery that won’t get in the way while you’re working is the easiest way of sprucing up any uniform! I’m always wearing my gold Casio watch so I can count down the minutes until I’m out of work!
Headbands or other hair accessories are also a cute touch to any uniform while keeping your hair out of your face.
Have to wear black pants? Why not wear ones with some subtle details like zips/studs or interesting seams and cuts. Or you can be like me in this picture and wear a black skirt. Good for getting those easy tips from perverted old men ;)
Boring white button up? Find ones with some ruffle details or lace. Looks really cute peeking out of aprons too!
Now shoes. Shoes are really important because you’re essentially standing up for hours on end. Comfort is an important factor which is why I’m usually in some canvas flats or my converses. Putting insoles into your shoes really help when you’ve been running around like mad for 4-5 hours on end.
So, how do you guys push the boundaries on your work outfits?
