I found this great alley last week after driving around looking for a good photo-taking corner, tucked away just enough to prevent the rubber neckers driving past from seeing me. It’s filled with old wooden doors that have paint chipping away just the way I like, and other curiosities that make my snapping finger go ballistic every time I see them. I guess the most alluring part is this old, decrepit building that I’m standing against in the last photo. You can’t see it in the photo, but just above this point of view is a door that leads to no where and boy does it make my imagination tumble with whimsy. I’ll try to post a photo soon!
So I was out taking photos when this man drove his car down the alley towards me. He rolled down his window and attempted some scattered small talk about who he was, what I was doing, and (the biggest question) why there were so many antique cars circling on the road around me. Funny, I had been wondering the same thing. To make a long story short, that man left for a bit and returned with an answer.
You see, I had heard on the news that they were shooting a big Hank Williams film here in town, but this very day they happened to be shooting in my neighborhood. As a matter of fact, they were shooting in the front yard of the house that I was at the back of! How random, huh? So of course my nosiness got the best of me, ended my photo shoot and led me to the other side of the house. I parked my car near the home and watched as the camera rolled across the overpass and toward the home. I wanted to take some photos of all this, but there were so many people around and I felt weird as it was, so I just stared for a bit before driving just a block to my home. (I drive to the alley because I feel weird walking around in heels with my tripod.)
Today I did some research on IMDB to see if there was any information I could show you about the film (actors, directors, etc), but it turns out they don’t have any of this up yet. I did, however, find a blog that informed me of their search for extra actors! It gave me the email address and all the information they needed about me, and it even asked if I had some clothes from the 50’s. OF COURSE I DO! On the blog it said it may be some time before I hear a response, but I submitted all the information with a photo attached and even a link to my blog (for more photos) in the hopes of getting even the tiniest spot as an extra in the film. This stuff NEVER happens here in Arkansas, so of course this is pretty much the highlight of my week!
