NYFW F/W 2010: Jenni Kayne

Jenni Kayne was precise in its beauty. Neither challenging nor evocative, it was instead a simple collection with its details finely tuned— each piece perfectly tailored.

Many designers take a literal approach to inspirations, but for Jenni Kayne this was not the case. When I discovered her equestrian influence in the design of the collection a light bulb clicked in my head and I had that ‘Ohhhhh’ moment when everything seems to make sense. She managed to work in her influences effortlessly, in a completely unobvious way.

The collection was comprised of basic pieces, but with slight touches of interesting detail. A rabbit shell top, heather grey moto jacket and calf-length skirt set and dark green leather mini dress. Simple, subtle, but effective.
