New York has been a whirlwind of fun and exciting happenings and events. The Chictopia 10 Summit was the highlight of the trip and I am still reeling from meeting all the amazing bloggers and industry power players. With all of the crazy things going on it’s been difficult to make it out to the shows. One show that I was able to make it was the Yigal show. The show was not as innovative as I may have hopped but a few pieces certainly stood out. The show was a combination of both menswear and womenswear and honestly the menswear was far superior. I loved the chunky knit paired with slim trousers covered in patches of leather. The silhouette was sleek and sophisticated, just how I like it. The women’s line had a clear focus on trousers and cutaways blazers, fingerless gloves, lace and lots of muted, dark colors. My favorite piece was a long, draped knit cardigan that was paired with a lace top and slim trousers. I also really adored the simple, yet brightly colored dresses that seeded the otherwise colorless collection. The exposed zippers and open backs were a nice detail. My overall opinion of the show was favorable, but I would have prefered to see some new designs and more color.
