you can read about when i spent time with the ‘bloggers’ at the venus ss10 fashion show and after party here
what’s more important is that i finally have my entry for the chictopia10 contest! i wanted to make sure what i wrote had my ‘voice’, so here it is:
As a member of the Chictopia community for the past 14 months, I’ve watched myself evolve as an inquisitive mind of all things fashion, seeking not only knowledge of the industry and the most flattering shapes and styles for my body type, but also a sisterhood of comrades interested in sharing my passions.
Chictopia has already given me a wonderful gift: the ability to develop my own style. Taking the plunge into shaking things up in my closet. Forget the rules of fashionable people being 5’10” bombshells in designer names day after day. With the aid of Chictopia, I came into my own sense of style, my own definition of what is fashionable (and yes, that means I proudly wear high heals on a daily basis). I couldn’t have become this person without the support of the Chictopia community – through their comments, messages, votes and everything in between – and the Chictopia site itself by searching for specific pieces, brands, styles and body types that I can use for reference and motivation.
Chictopia has done more than serve as an online community for me. I’ve met amazing people since moving to the Bay Area, and I have to thank Chictopia for it all. Through Chictopia meetups in San Francisco, I’ve been able to overcome my shy tendencies when meeting others. Looking back, I can’t believe I was so intimidated by the people who are now amazing friends! I now have a close knit group of online friends and friends in my everyday life who can talk fashion and blogging, and we all met because of Chictopia.
Chictopia helped me realize that passions can become more than a hobby, that passion can create an unbelievable community, and that fashion week, my first fashion week, may just be weeks away.
