While many Chictopians give you a peek into their lives with images and words, sometimes you want to know more. So, I’m introducing a new post style to World_Ugly: Chic Interviews with Chictopians from around the world. Hopefully, we’ll get a deeper look at what has shaped their fashion and get to know some people from other parts of the world. Feel free to submit suggestions on who you would like interviewed or questions you would like answered by interviewees.
My first interviewee is Juliet, or Juliet_Polilova as you might know her on Chictopia. She is one of the Style Icons for January and she was kind enough to answer a few questions for us all.
Where are you from?
I’m from Russia, but there are no bears in the streets! :) I live in an absolutely unfashionable small town, called Oktyabrsky. Anyway, i like it, because there aren’t any fashionable shops and it’s really hard to be stylish, but that makes fashion interesting.
Do you think your home has affected your style?
I inherit my style sense from my mother. She is my style icon. But my own style mostly depends on my mood, feelings and, of course, the weather.
When did you first become interested in fashion?
When I was young my mother did everything to make me look fashionable, despite it being hard work. As you know, the 90’s were really hard times for Russia. But when I became 10-11, my mother said that it was my turn then. So since that time, I have been buying everything myself. But I became a real fashion lover about four years ago. When I turned 16, I decided to show my looks to people: I set up pages on Chictopia.com, and I started my own blog: Miss Black
Has your fashion sense changed over the years?
Yes! I still can’t believe I was wearing only T-shirts, jeans and Converse all time a few years ago!
What does style mean to you?
For me: it is the way I see my own world.
Who are your style icons?
Aside from my mother, I adore the style of M.K. and A. Olsen.
What do you like about Chictopia?
The best thing here are the people! When I posted my first look on Chictopia, I was so afraid! But when I saw the first comments, I thought: “Dear me! People are so benevolent and sincere here!”
Any fashion advice?
Wear only what you want to. Don’t listen to anybody’s advice. :)
Okay, rapid fire:
Heels or flats?
Pants or skirts?
Vintage or designer?
Winter or summer?
Big bag or mini bag?
Plaid or stripes?
