the most important aspect of chictopia is that it is a community. people don’t merely post their pictures and leave; they take the time to write blog entries and to browse through the style gallery to give chic points and leave positive and supportive comments for each other. there’s a real sense of safety and community here that you don’t find in any of the other style networking sites, and it’s what keeps me coming back every day.
i also absolutely love that you get to browse by body type, size, hair and skin color, etc. it’s so fun to browse through my highest matches in appearance to see how they dress for their body type, and it helps me to experiment with new ideas. when you browse through a fashion magazine, all of the clothes are styled up on beautiful models who are 6 ft tall and wear a size 0. as much as i enjoy the aesthetic, it’s nice to get an idea of how clothes look on a person with a body closer to my own at 5’5" and a size 4. people of my size don’t get representation in the mainstream, but on chictopia, we all get representation! and that truly means a lot to me.
