On Saturday the boyfriend and I went to our favorite winery in Cupertino, Ridge. They have a fabulous assortment of red wines that we can’t resist. We were running late and were going to miss their tasting, but luckily the nice server gave us the best samples and didn’t charge us. So, naturally we bought a bottle and enjoyed it with our lovely salmon dinner.
This is what I wore to our tasting. I remixed the Young, Fabulous & Broke tee that I got at Shopbop with my favorite Joe’s Jeans stretchy pants (which worked well with my tummy full of wine and food). I felt kind of rock glam wearing this.
I want to take a second to talk about something I feel is important. I was really disappointed to see and read about Heidi Montag’s obsession with plastic surgery at the young age of 23. I understand getting something small here and there to improve self esteem, but to drastically change your looks is something I typically feel is a short term solution to a problem that goes deeper than appearances. Heidi is a beautiful girl that was sucked into the Hollywood standard and feels she wasn’t good enough to become successful without looking perfect. She even readily admits that this is the beginning. I feel this sends the wrong message to young women out there that watch “The Hills” and look up to these girls. Even within the blogger community it can be tough. You are always going to deal with girls that get more then you, have more money, more time, better looks, etc. Looks should not define who we are. I myself am not immune to the pressure of perfection. Of course, I have flaws that I beat myself up for and wish I could change. The true test is trying to accept yourself for who you are and be confident. Yes, Hollywood may reward women who are extremely thin and beautiful, but there are many women who succeed because of their talent and their confidence and that is what Heidi will never have and why she most likely will never “make it”.
I want my readers to love themselves and be inspired my little old blog to step out there in the public eye and to be yourself. If you want to achieve something, but artificially change who you are in the process then you will never truly be happy.
Thanks for listening and love you all!
