Tomorrow is my last day at my current job. I am excited to move on, and I have some things coming together (as far as new employment goes, and some other stuff). I think 2010 will mean a lot of change, but I think it will be excellent. 2009 had its ups and downs, with a lot more downs than ups, but blogging has really kept me moving forward and kept me positive.
For me, Chictopia has really meant a lot. Living in Alaska, I never found a community which really was interested in the same things I was. As I grew more and more interested in style, I increasingly found a community online. Chictopia has introduced me to so many great people and bloggers some of which have become real friends, and I hope that someday I’ll get to meet them in person. To some extent it’s difficult to be a stylish person in a place like Alaska, the weather conditions are certainly not ideal and there are only one or two other people who care about style. That’s why Chictopia has been such a wonderful place for me. It’s like a sanctuary to escape the cold and ubiquitous sweats-and-Northface-jacket “style” that encompasses Alaska.
This is the first time in history that a young person like me can be involved in a global community of like-minded people, pretty much effortlessly. I’m connected to the entire globe through a little computer in Anchorage Alaska. Pretty incredible. I’ve been here for almost one year exactly, and the feedback I’ve gotten from other Chictopians has been so wonderful. My style has really come into its own since I started, and I still get excited about every single comment I get.
That being said, thanks Chictopia. Really. The community you’ve built is a fabulous and unique place. I hope to be a part of this community for many years to come!
Love,
Elizabeth
