One of my wishes is that those dark trees,
So old and firm they scarcely show the breeze,
Were not, as ’twere, the merest mask of gloom,
But stretched away unto the edge of doom.
I should not be withheld but that some day
into their vastness I should steal away,
Fearless of ever finding open land,
or highway where the slow wheel pours the sand.
I do not see why I should e’er turn back,
Or those should not set forth upon my track
To overtake me, who should miss me here
And long to know if still I held them dear.
They would not find me changed from him they knew—
Only more sure of all I thought was true.
Sorry for the crookedness of these photos. I set my iphone camera on top of the fence post and it’s an old wooden one so it’s not level. Oh well. One of these days, my husband is going to let me borrow his fancy-shmancy camera and tripod and I’m going to go to the back field where the pine trees are to take photos. I can’t wait. I haven’t done that yet because I have nowhere to set my camera. With a tripod you can go anywhere! I love the lighting at sunrise. I will actually get up at 7:00 AM so I can have it in my photos. Its freezing cold then too, like 20 degrees Fahrenheit usually. But its worth it.
