Excuse my face. Personally, I don’t think this is my most “stylish” outfit, but it’s comfy. It’s a bit trendy – oversize cardigan, tight dress, zip up boots? But I feel this is a pretty good description of my style. Simple, regardless of the trends pulled in. I always keep it simple!
I’m not going to pretend it’s been a lifelong dream of mine to attend Fashion Week – I didn’t even know what it was up until a couple years ago! I’ve never been immersed in anything. My childhood consisted of “normal” things… no summer camps, no sports, no piano lessons. I wasn’t raised in any particular environment that exposed me to something I’ve taken interest in. My environment? A suburban town I can’t wait to escape, surrounded by people that don’t seem to care too much about style. I’m not talking about fashion – I’ve seen enough girls pouring over the latest issues of Vogue and Elle. And I won’t even comment on their style, except for that it doesn’t seem personal.
That’s probably why I love Chictopia so much. It’s all about personal style. My own has developed so much since joining this website, and as I sit here wearing a floral dress, I can’t help but smile. Frankly, the community is phenomenal – there’s encouragement and helpful advice all throughout. Fashion may be entertaining – I know that looking at the collections during fashion week makes my mornings just that much better! But style is so much more than that.
Is this my most fashion-forward outfit? No. Do I enjoy fashion? Yes. But style is more than that – I can’t even begin to convey how much confidence I’ve gained in myself as my style has developed. So I won’t begin. I’ll let my clothes do the talking.
