I’ve always had a thing for overalls. I remember when I was little I used to dream of a full-body denim wear with tons of pockets and patches. When I got my first overall, I wore it non-stop, customising it here in there with pins, chains, sew-ons, etc. In the end, I looked like a dark denim Christmas tree :D well, I was 11 back then so I guess it was okay.
Then all of a sudden overalls were in fashion – and I got this classic blue number when I was about 15. It’s been safely stored at home for a few years – until now. Overalls are back, back , back, and seriously I couldn’t be happier! :D Now I can wear it with high heels, lacy tops, pretty things and still feel classy and chic :P Good thing is that it still fits and is not as loose as it used to be
Yesterday I wore my overall with a shirt – for a classic blue-collar look, but glammed it up with peep-toe shoes, lacy gloves+ring, and a beanie. I also wore a black blazer in case it would be cold, and some raspberry-colour lipstick to make it more feminine.
I think that the look turned out to have this Little House on The Prairie or Uncle Tom’s Cabin kind of vibe, sort of Ralph Lauren ss2010. Even though currently I’m not a fan of Ralph Lauren who fires his ‘heavy’ models while his daughter owns a candy shop on Manhattan (daddy’s present), which seems rather hypocritical, I like the nostalgic vibe of his last collection, and I guess it translated in this look.
In general, so many of SS2010 shows presented really interesting looks, I’ve been browsing and browsing through them for hours!..
I’ll have to write more about it on my blog: PLANETDISCOBALL.WORDPRESS.COM
I will also update soon my fashion sketch blog SPARKLYGREY.WORDPRESS.COM
Unfortunately I didn’t have enough time for it recently with all the holidays, traveling and stuff.
