When cooler weather rolls around I become obsessed with legwear. Why? Because interesting socks and tights are fun and when you wear dresses in the dead of winter you have to be creative to keep from losing toes! Lately socks have been growing in popularity and there is a style available for everyone. Knees socks happen to be my favorite: they can be worn as they are, layered over tights, or scrunched down to look like ankle socks. Here’s a break-down with some Chictopians showing how they wear theirs.
Pros: school girl chic, make your calves looks slimmer, can be styled a variety of ways
Cons: they slide down, can shorten the line of your leg
Pros: instant cuteness and cozy toes
Cons: they can make your calves look thick and shorten the line of your legs (avoid this by wearing with heels)
Over the knee socks
Pros: modern and edgy, can look like boots from a distance, they lengthen the line of your leg
Cons: they tend to slide down
Pros: your socks won’t fall down when they’re layered and your legs will be extra toasty
Cons: Turns heads (up to you if this is bad)
*One thing I’ve realized noticed is that girls who wear socks with their dresses and skirts are repeat offenders. This usually means once you try one style and like it, you’ll attempt others and like them as well. It’s also a look that can make your style seem anything from vintage, to grunge, to modern, and gothic; so it is an item I suggest investing in to emphasize your style.
