I watched FACTORY GIRL today and finally finished downloading Ciao Manhattan (Edie Sedgwick’s last work before overdosing and dying at the very young age of 28) thus the outfit. I was very much inspired by her look- being dubbed as a style icon known for her black tights, high heels, shift dresses and long chandelier earrings.
Style icon Edie Sedgwick inspired the likes of Andy Warhol and Bob Dylan and left behind a fashion legacy that still lives on today. With her cropped platinum hair and dark-lined eyes, Edie Sedgwick defined effortless but edgy mod glamour. The key is pairing simple sheath dresses with bold jewelry, solid-color tights, and basic pumps or flats. New York, 1965: a gamine bottle blonde walks through the crowd of hip young things. With her thick, black kohl eyeliner, bouffant hair and antique chandelier earrings dripping priceless jewels, she emanates style. No-one has ever seen anything quite like this young woman, who wears nothing more than a leotard, opaque tights and a sweater.
Iconic society women had always been demure and elegant. Sedgwick was downtown not uptown, active not passive, sunglasses not ball gowns. Her look was a mixture of sweet and sour; an angelic face distorted with bleached hair and disfiguring make-up. You could call her the first punk.
Suffice to say, the Edie exposure from the day greatly influenced how I dress for night (note: shift dress and chandelier earrings) which was subconsciously committed by myself since I could not help but adore her style and waif-ness the whole afternoon. I don’t know what it is about me but I get intrigued by poor little rich girls who are so broken inside. Must be the psychologist inside me speaking or something. Either way, I adore her and the legacy she left on.
Wore this to a night out with friends in Fort. Bought this dress after I fell so in love with it from my friends and fellow brandowners, Audrey and Kato, the power tandem behind MOONSHINE
I so adore that it mashed my never worn 2 year old Michael Kors ultra high heels too!
xx

love the dress..:)
