When the temperature starts to rise, oh so do the hemlines. As I walk across campus, I see a sea of girls wearing the same frayed denim mini with a tank top or tee and cheap plastic flip flops. Now, don’t get me wrong I’m all about staying comfortable when the weather is sweltering hot, but seriously how many denim minis and flip flops does one need to have? It seems to be some college chick uniform as soon as the weather reaches 80 degrees.
I was walking behind this girl during an especially hot day last week. Trust me; it looked even worse in person. Yes, those are rhinestone embellishments on the back pockets of her skirt…and bag and hair clip… She even started running when she realized she was going to be late for class. How do you even run in espadrille thongs? Hmmm…
Anyway, I instead opted for some cute canvas shorts, a simple white tee with ruched sleeves and magenta suede flats. The simple details in the shorts and shirt kept this outfit from looking overly simple and yet helped me stay cool and comfy.
So please girls, retire those tired denim minis and flip flops! We know you can do better than that and why would you want to look like the 24387538 other college girls on campus? That’s no fun.
