Someone once told me, jeans were the most comfortable thing in the world. This is, of course, incorrect. Let’s consider the hierarchy:
bandage dress < jeans < leggings
I knew a guy in college who used to rank Asian chicks in terms of hotness in the same way:
Japanese < Chinese < Koreans
Back to the topic. When dressing for comfort, it’s important to consider all your options. Sure, you could put on jeans and hoodie. But have you ever considered leggings, over-the-knee boots, and a hoodie? Or an oversized sweater, leggings/ tights, and boots?
Putting in that extra effort is what will give you that extra boost of confidence when walking around doing what you do. Incorporate trends like over-the-knee boots, or “sweater as dress” that will work well with casual attire (see Alexander Wang a/w 07 collection) – when you break it down, it’s boots and a sweater. Easy enough, right?
Finally, hair, makeup, and jewelry do wonders to communicate to people that you did mean to walk out the door looking like that. And it’ll make you feel a bit more assured in your comfort outfit. Hey, if drag queens can do it, you can do it too.
In case anyone was wondering: I’m in a lighthouse. I’ve had too many Coronas. Ideally, I would like to be more of a role model. But that’s why you guys have Coed Ugly and now… dun dun dun Teen Ugly!
