aCullen 's Thoughts:

Inspiration for today’s look (or rather, where I STOLE it from!) is Chictopian paulinabelle’s fantastic Double Plaid look where she layers two plaid shirts. I think she pulls it off better than I do, but it’s always fun trying something new.

I finally got my haircut yesterday; thank goodness. My bangs kept getting in the way of my glasses and it was constant frustration. I can see yet again! And I just love sporting these cat eye purple glasses, so when my bangs get outgrown I become very sad. My hairstylist is a Roller Girl a la Whip It! and she’s always got the greatest style; I discovered yesterday we both collect cameos.

I risked exposure to take these photos! It was -5 degrees when I woke this morning, with a wind chill putting us at -20 degrees. I’m shocked we’re having such cold temperatures right now; usually they don’t arrive until late January. I love it when it gets into those super cold subzero temperatures because when you breathe in through your nose, the moisture on your nose hairs freezes and you get this funny tingling sensation in your nose! I love that feeling! My friends all think I’m insane, and now you probably do, too. Another cool thing is that when it gets that cold (around -20s, -30s, and -40s) you can blow bubbles and the bubbles will actually freeze in mid-air and crumble slowly as they get heavy and fall to the ground. Lots of fun here in the state of 10,000 lakes…

So, to take these photos, I waited a few hours for it to warm up. It was 6 degrees, with a wind chill of -15. It’s OK; it takes 10 minutes of bare exposure until your fingers start to hurt. I’m risking my fingers and toes for chictopia!

I love the grey Western shirt, also. It has a bit of history for me! I purchased it at Bensimon when I lived in Paris three years ago. I have a great pair of pink suede Bensimon sneakers I purchased in France, too. When they started selling Bensimon at Madewell and Urban Outfitters, it made me so sad because my clothes were no longer unique…

More photos, including more detail, on my blog time enough for drums

Plaid on plaid looks awesome on you! And that blue skirt really stands out. Risking fingers and toes for chictopia = totally worth it :)
