Ok ay, I know that the following statement might make me a bit of a freak but I have never ever dressed up for Halloween. That’s right, NEVER. Having a religious/ superstitious momma can do that to you sometimes. But this is my year, this year I’ll be going up to Portland, Oregon to visit a friend and decided to dress up for the occasion. If there is one thing I’ve learned about Halloween is that costumes are HARD. Oh my lord are they hard, who knew so much thought and preparation went into these things? After having quit my paying gig I’ve found myself in the poorhouse and was unwilling to shell out more than $10 for a costume. I decided to go as a Trekkie, mostly because all I had to buy was a yellow shirt and so that I had an excuse to do the Vulcan salute all night.
This isn’t really a DO’s and DON’T’s for Halloween because it really is the one night people can just let loose and do whatever they want! If you’re stumped for ideas trawl costume sites for inspiration and then give it your own spin. Sites like Halloween Express and Buy Costumes have tons of ideas, put aside your inhibitions and get creative! Whether it means being ultra sexy, goofy, witty, or controversial as long as it’s done with a certain level of taste I say go for it! Just don’t forget to post it on Chictopia the next day. :)
