well, i haven't exactly worn them enough to break them in but i don't think the "thing" that makes them hurt can be broken in. i think there's some kind of molding on the top of the shoe (over your foot) that can't be broken into or whatever. they're not THAT bad, i just cant be in them for more than like..4 hours.
