Been missing, have I? Not that I hoped anyone would notice though ;p.

Almost the end of long holiday here. It was Idul Fitri holiday, a day when Muslims celebrate a glorious day after a month of dawn-to-dusk fasting. The fasting is meant to purify our body and soul, so on this day we’re supposed to come back to our pure being, thus the name of the day, a holy, sacred day. The festivities of the day are equivalent to Christmas or Thankgiving, so yes, it’s big celebration. We have our own traditions ofcourse…

…to visit our extended family back in our hometown.
You can imagine the mass migration, big cities emptied out and roads jammed up. I lived in a small town, two hours from the capital, where the majority of my extended family lives, so fortunately (or unfortunately?) I didn’t experience all that.

…what do we do in the visit? To ask and give forgiveness and to rekindle relationships. And we eat ofcourse. We have special dishes on this day, all of it include an abundant use coconut milk, chicken and mutton, none of which I can eat, unfortunately.

….my favorite tradition is that to reflect our new, repurified being, it’s unobligatory tradition to wear new clothes, especially white ones. I always love any reason to buy new clothes hehehe. So here’s what I wear, a floral tunic (I’m not really creative at describing things, am i?). My mother, sister-in-law, and I ofcourse, wear the same outfits, while my brothers and father wear also other similar outfits, all in white. The boys outfit is short sleeve, Chinese style shirts. Too bad we couldn’t find a small one for the nephew.

It was a fun day!
