What a way to end the week…busting out the crinoline for the first time this year, finally getting my makeup right, compliments from friends and strangers, Pop-Tarts from a vending machine, gorgeous weather, and plenty of laughs. One of the greatest ironies of my life is that my hair finally looks good down and I’m due for a haircut next week. Maybe I’ll ask them to straighten it for me – I haven’t had straightened hair since 8th grade (oh man, that was an awkward phase).
Oh and…I started a new blog!
By new I mean “in addition to this one”, not “instead of”. I’ve realized that I have too much stuff to squeeze into the space below an outfit post, so instead of attempting something like this, I can stick to posting my daily outfits here (with commentary, of course. The last thing I want is to be one of those people like “here’s today’s outfit. VISIT MY BLOG PLEASE KTHANKS”).
So, my other blog will be about outfits too, but also runway photos/inspiration, makeup, music, movies, FOOD, stories, miscellaneous photos that don’t fit anywhere…did I mention there would be food?
But I’m not done yet. I know enough about the ins and outs of Chictopia, but if there’s one thing I don’t know, it’s how the blogosphere works. What are some rules, if any, of blog etiquette? Is it rude to leave a comment with your URL or ask to be added to someone’s blogroll (I’ve seen people do these things, and it seems to straddle the line between putting yourself out there and shameless self-promotion)? Why does my links list appear in bold type instead of regular? What’s the best site for photo hosting? How do I do that nifty thing where I can see what people googled to get to the blog in the first place? What do I do when the “small” font size is too small and “normal” is too big?
Basically, I’m asking any of you that have a blog outside of Chictopia – why did you start it? What’s your perspective on using one vs. the other or both? Any advice for a beginner?
edit: silly me, I forgot to add a link! It’s called Raised By Wolves.
Oh and see the last photo? This outfit reminded me of the French Revolution so I did some dopey posing with a fan I got for free at a yard sale a la Marie Antoinette. This photo is a “chictopia exclusive” :)
OH AND PS. DON’T WORRY I WILL NEVER EVER GET A TWITTER
