I wore this bra/bustier/corset top a week ago and deemed it a failed experiment. This week’s version worked a lot better, and I have to say, I felt a lot more comfortable and less awkward than last time. But what made the difference between an epic fail and a great success? I’ve come up with a few possible explanations.
-Proportion – this one is a lot more flattering and focused on the waist, rather than being shapeless and maternity-esque. I think this ended up looking more purposeful and less sloppy (although the downside is that it’s a tad office-y, but who cares.)
- Subtlety – this one is really important when you’re wearing a bra over your clothing. Last time it was just like BAM! a bra!, but this way it’s more like, oh hey, I like that top you’re wearing under your your blazer, it’s kind of cute and lacy, oh wait, it’s a bra, how about that!
Color – I really like it when colors that aren’t supposed to work together, do. This one in particular makes me think of food – although a quick google search for “peach mint blueberry” didn’t turn up anything worthwhile, there’s just something about the pastels and navy blue that’s just so off-kilter and charming in a weird way.
Oh and something about the mint green polyester pants and white shoes makes me think of scrubs. Plus they’re super comfy.
My cat snuck into the 2nd photo :)
