// 2008 // one year ago // today // my first post //
Lot has happened since that post. I started just for fun and would have never imagined that this free-time hobby would have become my first passion. I still remember the excitement for the first comment I got, the suspense for the feedback all and the joy to share my outfit with you.
Seventy-five posts later I still enjoy it like the first time.
I spent a lot of time checking the style gallery, commenting on others’ pictures, sharing tips and advises. Coming from a city where almost all dress similarly I realize I followed unconsciously the crowd because it was easy. Not that I didn’t have an individual taste, but being different is difficult. Thank to the positive feedback and encouragement from the community I achieved self confidence to express myself and my style has improved a lot. It’s weird how a virtual identity can influence the real life; seeing yourself from an external point of view helps to judge yourself impartially. The reactions to my blog from my family, friends and acquaintances were (and still are) disparate: some like it; some think it’s a superficial thing; others are still trying to understand what happened to me for having changed so much.
The most important thing, is that I love it. I wish I had more time to post regularly and write more but now the priority is finishing my degree in economics and management. When I chose my major I dreamt to work for the European Commission as an economist one day; now, four years later, I’m looking for a job within the fashion industry. In the short run I will probably work in fashion retail or merchandising but in the long run I hope to move to a more creative branch like production or styling.
I used not to believe in destiny but when it comes to the future I think that planning too much in the long run is useless because lots of things can happen in the meanwhile and you end up doing and loving something you had never planned nor expected. And it’s worth following it. The one which excites you most. Like fashion for me.
Thank you all for your overwhelming support and happy birthday to my blog!
