For NY fashion week, the glamour of fashion shows are usually only priviledged to editors of magazines and socialites that can afford the $10,000 price tag. After all, they have been the trendsetters here in NY for decades. This fashion week, however, due to the rise of influence of social networks, stars of fashion social networks like Chictopia are also invited to attend shows and make their opinions count.
From BCBG to Academy of Art, Chictopia’s community publication, written by our network influencers, received over 50 fashion week invites.
Just like how Myspace brought talented musicians to light, and Youtube gave film makers a launching pad, Chictopia, a social network dedicated to bloggers showcasing their personal style to inpiration seekers are bringing our top editors and bloggers to fashion week. Though it’s some of Chictopia girls first time covering fashion shows, many of them have thousands of fans awaiting for their reviews.
I’m pleased to introduce Karla, one of our prominent Chictopia members, covering Ports 1961 show for us.

After doing a bit of research/investigation on Ports 1961, I learned that Tia Cabani is one of those designers that always seems to evoke some sort of geographical theme in her collections.
This season the collection was a bit japanese-influenced in a very mysteriously romantic, earthly kind of way. With slinky kimono dresses in coral and blush pink hues, organza drop-back coats, strapless cocoon dresses with origami detailing, embellished silver short-sleeve coats, and a cappuccino-colored silk blouse, the collection presented day-to-day glamour in a very subtle, quiet manner.
For women, I feel as if the collection brought back that sort of feminine elegance that seems as though it has disappeared in recent years. I loved how she played with fluidity and structure, but most importantly I love how everything is totally wearable… well, for me at least!

Great look!! Love it
