What do you do when you have a pair of impulsively purchased shoes sitting in the corner of your room collecting dust because you can’t come up with any way to wear them again?
If you’re me, you buy house paint samples and get to work!
When I posed the question “How do I dye suede?” Peter from leonofnewyork suggested house paint. Figuring I’d be no less off with ruined shoes I can’t wear than perfectly good shoes I don’t wear, I decided to take the plunge. I headed off to Home Depot, bought one of those $2.94 paint samples (geniussss), picked up some chain at the craft store, and voila! A couple days later – brand new shoes!
Here’s what to do if you want to do the same:
MATERIALS
1. Shoes you hate
2. House paint
3. Chains of various sizes
4. Metal jump rings of various sizes
5. Various clampy tools I don’t know the name of
HOW TO
1. Paint your shoes
2. Attach chains using smaller jump rings to a jump ring large enough to fit around the straps of your shoes
3. Attach the larger jump ring to your shoes
4. That’s about it
Happy painting!
