A reader request – Oh graduation… I can’t seem to recall my high school graduation, so reflecting back on my college graduation went something like this:
_Hmmm… I wonder if I got credit for that class. Wait. Did I pass that class?
Crap. Am I supposed to be here?_
For others whose graduation didn’t depend on a single class they may or may not have passed looks away The next biggest concern is something like:
What do I wear?
-————————————
Some suggestions…
A not-quite-so-simple dress
Be like ester and Luxenoir and wear a standout dress. Everyone will be compelled to wear something jersey or floral. Go for something short but sweet (with all your bits covered!) in either a stand out color or with unusual details like chiffon pleats or a bustier top.
The chunky heel
Be like Kora and if you’re going to wear 3"+ heels, save yourself some pain and wear a chunky heel. You’ll be sitting down for most of graduation, but when you do your walk across the stage, nothing looks worse than stumbling. Face first is no way to go. Tasteful flats are also a good option – just leave your combat boots/ gladiator sandals/ flip flops at home.
If you go casual
In case you want to go the more comfortable route, which is very likely if you’re the type not to get too dressed up. I highly recommend the t-shirt + high-waisted lightweight skirt + belt + long cardigan combo which works so well on Snowshoe and bakerchops. Accessories like layered jewelry or big nerd glasses makes the outfit fun and standout amongst your peers. And you know… some people just don’t find graduation that big of a deal. This might be for you.
And just to finish up my story – no, I didn’t get credit for that class. Yes, I did have to take an extra class during the summer. Yes, I did graduate. OMG so stressful! Don’t fall asleep during lectures!
