I always, always want to make a dress. I browse obsessively in online store catalogs, and find many great inspirations. But I know making it would be hard, because I’m still struggling to make top/bodice.
But then again, I thought, learning is by doing right? So I brace myself and sew on….
What I had in my mind is this flowy maxi dress, but it turned out to be in more streamline shape due to lack of fabric. The grey top part is a little bit messy, because sewing the neckline and armholes drove me to my wits end. Still have to hone my skill on those… :D
I added some origami embellishments on the neckline to pump the top a little bit. These origami embellishments are inspired by craftymeg at Burda.
So…..after redoing the side pocket twice, the side zipper seven times, and reducing my lifespan for five years along the process, voila! My first DIY dress.
The long tank dress is a little bit unusual, I am thinking to cut it shorter and make an average short dress. But I like the way the skirt elongates my body, so…..
What do you think? Should I keep the length or chop it short?
Thanks in advance for your generous suggestions lovelies!
