A Girl From Ipanema
--the straw hat really reminds me of that song title :)———
Hurray for me! My first self-sewn skirt is finally done! In 6 hours, more or less.
Been dying to sew this, but I was sick for a week… :(
The skirt is inspired by a picture of a skirt I saw on some store catalog, f21 or topshop or something, and I found an almost similar How To at Burda.
I made several alterations, using two layers and a 5cm elastic waistband instead.
The final result is super cute, although it is a little puffier than I hoped It’d be.I know I could find dozens of this kind of skirt at thrift stores, but it feels quite different if you make it yourself, much better than store-bought. And, look on how much money I saved from not going retail:
A skirt at f21 can cost me, what, 20-30 bucks?, but this skirt only costs:
Fabric : 1.5 m of cotton x US$1,20 = US$ 1,80
Elastic waistband : 1 m x 70 cents = US$ 0,70
Thread : a spool x 20 cents = US$ 0,20
Total Cost = US$ 2,70!!!
What a save! I’m so happy!
