Tie Snug is one of the coolest accessories for guys I have ever seen. It holds ties firmly in place all day without having to adjust them at all. I ordered one for my boyfriend and he loves it. He said it helps him feel more confident during business meetings. He isn’t so worried about adjusting his tie at all anymore. Check it out http://www.tiesnug.com

i agree with taylortrimphantt, i think that most likely, chillin with the guys would require something less feminine and more comfortable. don't get me wrong, i absolutely love the look, maybe not for the occasion of hanging out with boys.

First, love your outfit! Second, I liked the rah rah, feel good tone of this post. Very nice, and feeling good about yourself is ALWAYS chic. Some of your points were excellent (unique = GREAT!), but I'm inclined to agree with some posters that hanging with boys is about mixing chic-ness with functionality-- you don't want to be the girl who cant play Frisbee b/c of her dress and heels.

i agree with coldlight. this is ideal but personally i feel it's not really a realistic post. usually when you hang w. guys, you're going to end up doing something active. i don't know, how do you fit maxi dresses or high heels into skating and arcade games? ) :

hey girl, the past 3 times ive been with guy friends we've gone to the mall and just hung out or gone to the park and they skated while we all talked. It all depends on where youre going I guess, but the stuff I talked about was all based on personal experiences. This post will be helpful to some who need it, not everyone, cause its impossible to write an article for the world. :)

i think this is a sweet and honest post but i don't entirely agree with some things, like the what not to wear part. i think it really depends on the occasion- i know that if i was just going to a guy's house to watch movies or mucking around at a park with a bunch of guys i'd much prefer to be wearing shorts & a tshirt rather than a long skirt & heels! for me that's still both casual and chic :)

I love your article. I was always criticized in high school for being a girly girl with all guy friends. Most of the guys loved the way I dress, some even went to the store a few times with me.

Hahah, I love all of your posts! They're funny and inspiring. But it's true, I guess, I do get compliments from guys when I wear something a little unexpected. And guys seem to love "different" shoes, haha.

I <3d the Disney Channel comment!!! But I don't see the sin in jeans and a T. Wearing skirts or heels while hanging out with the guys would make me feel WAY out of place.

fantastic article although I dont agree with the "No items" entirely. I feel like some guys like it when a girl dresses simply, because it shows that a girl can be beautiful naturally without having to put on a show. I think any kind of jeans go. But of course something unique and different that u feel good in isnt bad either.

i love your vintage skirt! i agree with you, thanks for the advice! i find that guys are wayy less critical than girls about what im wearing, and that they sometimes think its "cool" if its interesting. sometimes theyll even belike "i really like your dress. but no guys ever told me he likes me jeans shorts, haha

Totally agree. My guy friends (who aren't into fashion at all) definitely notice when I wear something unexpected. I think they're more weirded out than anything, but not in a negative way, at least!

There comes a point in every teenagers life where one will have to go hang out with a bunch of boys… without any female friends. i.e. You, alone, with a bunch of guys. To some it may seem fun, and to others it could be possibly horrifying. But you have to go. Why? Your mom is making you, you may have your eye on one of the guys and so therefore have forced yourself to go, your friend may have enlisted you to be a secret agent and find out all you can about her supposed soul mate. Anyways, no matter the reason, you have got to go. But what do you wear? And what if your uncomfortable?

Boys, Oh Boy
One thing Ive learned is guys dont really care about what youre wearing. They dont. Its a known fact. However, I find that they do notice what youre wearing. Its not as if they dont look at all. Guys may be very different than girls, but they DO have eyes.

What Not To Wear
Lets start with what not to wear. Its pretty simple. The last thing you want to be when in a group of boys is to be bland. Do you want to be plain and ordinary or outstanding and exotic? Would you rather be a petunia or a rose? A finch or a cockatiel? You get my point.

Simple, bland, boring, NO items: plain jean shorts, cropped sweaters, graphic tees, flip flops, plastic jewelery, graphic sweatshirts, tennis shoes, bootcut or flare jeans, sweats.

Girls, I know maybe your friends wear all this, maybe you see it on the people at the mall, or on Disney Channel or something, it doesnt mean YOU should wear it.

What TO Wear!
Alright, you know what you shouldnt wear so now what DO you wear? Well, guess what? Its simple. Im ALL for dressing feminine. What happened to when women wore dresses and skirts? That was the life! And while sometimes people view the above two items of clothing as dainty, weak, and anti-feminism its soo not true. If you knew me as a person you can easily tell I that dont want to be docile and completely obedient all of the time. I have a voice and a love for skirts.

Yes yes yes items: loose tanks and long skirts, woven sandals, gladiators, high heels, rompers, maxi dresses

Story Time
Last Friday I met up with a bunch of old time guy friends. They were actually skater dudes. I wore this skirt. Guess what they talked about for most of the time? My skirt. Yup. And not in a bad way. So ladies, heres my advice to you: Be original. If youre afraid of wearing a vintage dress or chunky heels… DONT be. Because odds are, if its something thats not seen often, theyll notice… and guess what? Probably end up liking it. Because it shows youre willing to be who you are. To display your true true colors.

Chant It
My mother has always told me to create a saying that makes me feel better about myself and then to repeat it over, and over again, because after a while, youre brain does that for you automatically and you begin to actually feel a difference and believe yourself.
So here is my message to you:
“Youre beautiful and gorgeous.”
“Youre beautiful and gorgeous.”
“Youre beautiful and gorgeous.”
“Youre beautiful and gorgeous.”

They say that when girls walk out the door they look in the mirror and pick out one thing they hate about themselves, like “I hate my nose” but guys go out the door saying to themselves “Ive got rockin calves!” It all depends on what you say to yourself. So next time you walk out the door, ignore the negative stuff, and look in the mirror and choose your most favorite part about you, your eyes, dimples, legs, whatever, and tell yourself how fabulous that part of you is.

Comfort Level
Okay, before I leave you, the most important (and cliche) thing is to wear something that you feel comfortable in, or something that is at least tolerable to wear. However, I dont think you should be uncomfortable, because 1) Its no fun (very stressing, you know?) and 2) there is no reason to be! Any chictopian can wear anything, anytime.
Still uncomfortable? Here is a quick guide to help you. If you dont wanna show your legs, put on a maxi dress, or a long skirt like the one Im wearing. If you dont wanna wear a romper put on a jumpsuit. Loose tank top too loose? Try a loose tee instead.

So, take a cue from Karla
or romp around like Lydia
or swing a skirt like Annabel,
odds are youll look fantastic any way.

Until we meet again,
The Stylish Wanderer
