Hey Chictopians!
Ive gotten so many comments and emails regarding summer reading. People wanting recommendations, thoughts, etc. etc., and so here I am! I put the books into categories and it should be pretty self-explanatory.
Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!

Romance
Jinx- Meg Cabot I am a complete sucker for romance novels. No.. not the steamy graphic ones (get your mind out of the gutter!) but the sweet adorable, tingly feeling ones. And so of course, the genius Meg Cabot comes up. Her stuff is the best. This one is my favorite of hers. I love this book, filled with mystery, New York, witch craft and revenge! The best.
The Morning Gift- Eva Ibbotson This is such a lovely novel. I love it. Set in the early 1900s a twenty year old must get a quick marriage to a friend of the family in order to get back to her home (and fiancee), but the person she marries… well it turns out she actually really likes him. Uh-oh. Such a great book.
Action
The Hunger Games- Suzanne Collins One of the best books Ive read in a while. In the future, the USA is split up into 12 colonies. One ruling colony demands that all other colonies sacrifice a boy and a girl, age 12-18 for the annual Hunger Games, where they place these 24 kids in an arena to fight to the death… and televise it across the nation. EPIC.
Gone-by Michael Grant Think of this. A sleepy beach town in NoCal. Everyone over the age of fourteen disappears. Kids start developing powers. Its awesome. I love this.
Mystery
I am the Messenger- Markus Zusak I didnt actually know what this book qualified as in terms of what category I should put it in. All I know is that it is definitely in the top 3 of the best books I have ever read. It might even be #1. Gasp.
The Templar Legacy- Steve Berry Really good novel. Not the most amazing or intricate writing, but its not like its poorly written. The twists and turns are fun, and its just another one of those “And then the man saw what was truly behind the mask. END CHAPTER” kind of books. Let me know if that makes sense. Its very dun dun dun!
Fashion
Fashion inside Out- Daniel Vosovic Great book for learning what its like in the fashion world. I also love the velvet-y cover.
Inspiration
Fresh Fruits You dont technically read this, but its great japanese street style.
For Your Little Sister
(I just added this for fun. There will probably be a time when youre baby sitting and you dont wanna deal with your kid sister at the moment. Plant her down with this book.)
Pandora Gets Jealous- Carolyn Hennessy Ive really read this book, and its great. Greek myths are the best and the author wonderfully weaves myths and legends with fun characters and witty dialogue. I guarantee your little sister will like it. (Ages 8-12 FYI)
Hope this helps all of you find a good book to read! Im currently reading The Da Vinci Code and Ill let you all know how it went. Both Part Twos of summer hair and my camera adventures will be coming soon!

I'll have to check out that Markus Zusak book - I read The Book Thief by him and it was amazing. Nice recommendations! :D
