Several people have picked up on the fact that I like to comment on/moan about the weather and it’s annoying influence on how we dress.
In the winter I’m cold and I moan about having to always wear a coat, in the summer I moan about not being able to wear layers, that feeling that one shouldn’t really wear head-to-toe black and the fact that so many outfits just aren’t quite right without some kind of jacket.
In order to get through last month of summer (before I start moaning about the cold again) I’ve decided to forget about the no black thing and embrace the dark side whole heartedly.
If you’re a closet goth like me, it’s all about picking the right garments if you want to go back to black without overheating.
My t-shirt is a oversized hanes mens white t which I slightly unsuccessfully tie-dyed recently. The armholes are huge which is good for ventilaton and the AA mesh bodysuit is almost as good as not wearing anything at all.
This skirt is pretty much the perfect summer shape, avoiding the cling factor of a bandage skirt and also the potential embarrassment of fuller styles which seem to flip up with the tiniest gust of wind.
ps. I did some research into the subject and it turns out there’s a scientific basis for my continual dissatisfaction with the temperature.
Researchers think that the ginger gene, known as MC1R, may cause the temperature-detecting gene to become over-activated
My hair is naturally dark auburn, in case you’re wondering. I’m a MC1R carrier. The proof is in those pasty white legs.
