In the lull of the bombardment of facebook news feeds depicting my juniors clashed in dresses (suits for the gents) they’ve planned since grade school of course, I being a regular on memory lane began a thinking about prom.
First of all, where has my life gone since prom? Well unfortunately I haven’t the chance to dress up again since, nor make another piece of formal attire. Somehow I haven’t touched my JUKI since summer started (to my amazement since my mother couldn’t pry me off the machine during winter break).
Next comes the regrets. Why couldn’t my current beau be my beau in high school? (Other than the fact that we live in different towns and met at university.) A pale daisy corsage would have been smashing against that prom dress I worked so meticulously on. Looking through the photos, the dress seems plain.
So then comes the re-imagination. First, the dress. Should have been louder, more elaborate and shouldn’t have let anyone talk me out of my initial plan. And then the hair, make-up, corsage, date, blah blah blah those things are not as important as why my dress was not the dress I planned.
Enjoy the pictures of what my prom was and what I wanted it to be. And of course the summer disaster of post-post-prom me. (Btw I’m no computer picture resizing wiz, that literal screen shot is Dior Spring 2009 Couture, which I plan on taking a lot of inspiration from for my next formal attire.)
