_It’s time to get to know one of your Style Icons for July. Meet Gala – she is probably listed under your “Favorite Chictopians” or “Favorite Photos.” Just taking a guess.
The brilliant thing about Gala is that she is still somewhat of a mystery. And for those who always wondered (or those that just love her, like me), you’re in for a treat.
Please enjoy!

1. Hi love, I know you have a huge following on Fotolog, but for those in States who are unfamiliar… where are you from? How old are you? What do you do?
My name is Gala Gozalez, I’m 22 y/o, I study fashion in London where I’ve been living for the last 3 years. I work as the Creative Director for the Spanish brand Adolfo Dominguez and I am also the face for their young line called “LINEA U.”
I work as a stylist for different magazines and recently I’ve been asked to keep modeling, just for fun! I created my blog/fotolog 4 years ago! European magazines and tv started to feature me and talk about my style… now I’ve moved to blogspot.
2. I know you don’t join many websites, so what made you decide to join Chictopia?
It’s true… I have enough websites with Myspace profile, Facebook (they have already created a fake me), Fotolog and Blogspot. But when I received the invitation to join Chictopia and checked out the website I thought it was great!!!
I kept looking..and found great people such as Rumi, whose blog I knew and loved from before, and if she was on Chictopia I knew it had to be good! Since then I’ve discovered great people like Lulu and Karla.
3. How would you describe your personal style [besides wonderful]?
Hahah cheers! Well, I find it deadly boring looking at fashion websites (such as Cosmopolitan,Topshop etc… ) to read what “someone” who describes her/him self as a stylist say “what-is-hot-and-what-is-not.” For me I prefer to decide what I like. I truly believe in streetstyle to find most of my inspirations.
At the beggining of each season after the catwalks, I check my favourite designers on style.com, then never look at anything more. Weekly, I check some of my favourite girls’ blogs and I love to watch their own interpretation of fashion. Just like as I do on my own.
I get ideas of “what is the next big trend” and then apply my personal style to it to create an outfit. I mostly get my influences from Londons East End scene, designers, music and movies. I dress up as I feel. Today might be a rock style, tomorrow a blond 60s wig.
The only thing I know for sure is that I try to keep a tiny bit of purity to each outfit that I wear – I guess that’s my personal trademark. As a stylist I always say to people that I can tell them what to wear, how to match, which colours… goes on. But I cannot tell them how to wear a hat, scarf, etc… as that is exactly what makes the difference. I am always pushing for others to find their own style.
4. What do you think are the next big trends?
Right right now? Lace, black-blue, big shoulders, 40s inspirations, blazers, printed tights…
5. Is there anything you can’t wear? Anything you regret wearing?
I cannot wear light blue, as it looks terrible on me. Unfortunately is a colour that I love so much! In the past I’ve regretted wearing short t’shirts showing my belly!!! Sooo 90s!!!!
6. From a European perspective, can Americans dress? [haha]
Since I’ve met Rumi, Karla and Lulu… I can proudly say YES!
7. If you could be doing anything else besides fashion what you be doing? Detective? Barfly? Socialite?
I would love to be a hairdresser or makeup artist. Also (a secret)… I started out in journalism at University my first year. I would have loved to have been more passionate about it!
8. And finally, music picks?
Duran Duran, Bob Dylan, Dead Cab for Cutie, Bryan Ferry (heart!), Bananarama, disco from the 70s, indie, rock… a little bit of everything!
