helenz 's Thoughts:

During my trip out to New York Fashion Week a few weeks ago, I was disappointed by the fashion spotted outside Lincoln center. It was just the same bloggers wearing off the rack outfits from major retailers. However, what I found most interesting were the outfits outside thrift stores. If you come to think about it, a thrifted piece is always the most unique and exclusive of all.

My skirt was a thrift store find for $8 at No Relation Vintage.

TRUE words, I used to hate buying at big stores but then I got to think that maybe we can make it the best of both worlds. Thrifted/ artsy with major retailers. Plus when I used to wear all thrifted and unique clothes, people did not get my style really. Once I started to use the "trendy" stuff, people started giving me more compliments. I think they sell themselves to the public like I kinda did.

I agree with what you said! When I was downtown Chicago at the highstreet stores a few weeks ago I noticed that all the clothes in each store started to look the same, I mean, they are still very cute but I love finding that unique piece from the thrift store that no one else has. I love your skirt :)

I think some people "in the fashion industry" tend to feel the need to dress like the runways and magazines suggest and often fail to incorporate part of their personality into the mix, like a vintage piece or, I don't know, something to differentiate from others. But that tells you that they're people who need to read more, watch more movies, see different places and get inspired (;
