Over the summer in Jakarta, I was asked to do a "Style Spin" by Speak! Magazine (by Jakarta Post). Style Spin is where we have to recreate a chosen outfit, worn by celebrities, and provide tips regarding the style. I was given Cara Delvingne and she was wearing a monochrome outfit with a street-style and slight grungy vibe. I was so glad I got Cara. This particular style is basically my obsession, so it wasn't hard to recreate the outfit.
Here are the photos and here is what I wrote:
1. Have fun with monochrome
This trend is fairly easy to pull off since both black and white colours are part of every girl's wardrobe. They are basic tones that totally match with almost every other color. The combination of these two contrasting yet harmonious tones never fails to bring sophistication and a little bit of edge at the same time.
2. Black pants are a must
I chose to wear tight-fitting skinny black pants with black boots; this pairing gives the illusion of having longer legs.
3. Crop your top
For those who have been wanting to wear a midriff top but are afraid to show too much skin, try coupling it with a high-waisted bottom, such as jeans of leggings. That way you only show a hint of your waist, which happens to be the slimmest part of your upper body.
4. Layer Up
Even if you live in a warm, humid place like Jakarta, you can still don a cool jacket by simply "slinging" it over your shoulders and letting it drape like a cape. Not only does this style make you feel comfy, it also makes you look oh-so-elegant.
