While I was in New York, I received an email from Marie Claire Magazine asking if they could photograph me for their Beauty Roadshow feature in Chicago. I was so honored to have been asked, and I met up with them last week for a quick street style shoot along with a bunch of other ladies. Be sure to watch for me in the August issue! They gave me a mini interview and asked me basically "why I dress glamorously in my daily life." I know they will only have room to use about 1 sentence of what I said to them if any, and I definitely understand that. Glamour to me is waking up in the morning and deciding that I will put forth the kind of discipline in getting ready for the day that I admire so much in women of past eras. We have lost something in modernity that was captured by the Grace Kellys, Audrey Hepburns and even everyday working class ladies of days gone by. If I have the freedom to reach for a similar impeccable standard, then I'm not sure why not? If being too glamorous when surrounded by sweatpants is my fault, then sign me up! Speaking of vintage-inspired, this dress floored me when I saw it. Stop Staring Clothing has one of the largest variety and inventory of styles in this category I've ever seen! I absolutely love how Stop Staring is committed to celebrating the female form in such a classy and classic way. I played off the polka dots on this dress with inverted polka dotted shoes and loved the way it turned out. It was an intensely windy day in Chicago, but sometimes that helps a photoshoot rather than hinders.
