This is the kind of outfit I want to live in come spring: it’s casual, elegant and unfussy. You can tell thought went into it but she didn’t spend the previous evening meticulously planning it out. It looks so easy! I love the combination of soft, neutral colours and natural fabrics, and then the subtle injection of colour with her bright lipstick.
Total inspiration! If only the weather would collaborate with me. Sadly shorts are still a distant dream…

OBSESSED by the giuseppe zanotti design s/s 2010 collection. this is just one aspect of it, the black leather with tough metal hardware and baroque jewels; there are also gorgeous shoes and boots in sunshine yellow with a rainbow of embellishments, like a pinata of colourful crystals and beads exploded in the design studio. a carnival on your feet!
there are also some more restrained styles too, which are equally lovely. but the magpie in me was of course drawn above all to the unapologetic glamour of metal and jewels. those boots….!! i would give my first-born for those boots.

went to the belle sauvage show at london fashion week today (thanks to a certain special someone. if you’re reading this: hi!). the construction of some of the garments was incredible and the show was really atmospheric: the models walked in time to this heavy thudding metallic beat, like the laboured clunks of a knight walking in an immense suit of armour.
anyway, this dress has nothing to do with that, but i wanted to share! this is another of the sketches that i do when stubbornly avoiding uni work; or, as i prefer to think of it, ‘lateral productivity’.
would love to make this. after all, a girl can never have too many backless minidresses. for all those urban celebration events, you know? (i really had no idea how to classify this outfit)
also, to the lovely commenters on previous sketches: thank you! they are very much appreciated x
UPDATE: now it even has a front!

so i’ve been longing for two things recently: 1) spring and 2) silk trousers. thus far, both have evaded me.
this sketch is a design of what i would ideally wear in spring, assuming that i had a busy schedule of gallery openings to attend and that i in fact owned any of the component garments, which sadly i don’t. yet.
i love the shoes-tied-over-trousers look, and i imagine them in a rich, deep purple to contrast against the beige/tan silk trousers.
and just as an aside, if the proportions and lines of the fabric look a bit odd, it’s because i didn’t use a reference here, and my imagination is not the most technically accurate source…

so impatient for spring’s arrival! have fallen in love with these silk trousers – the neutral colours and the soft, light drape of the silk.
also, can’t wait to wear sandals again without losing all sensation in my toes. love these chunky leather ones with the double ankle strap. waaaant!

so i’m now kind of obsessed with these wet look leggings, even though they’re paper-thin and i might as well just be going out in hoisery for all that they protect me from the elements. i’m also pretty sure that they would melt in the rain. nonetheless, i persevere.
so sick of winter! think i will hold a ritual burning of all my uglyugly thermal underlayers come spring.
